A container in which loose tea is kept.

In earlier periods, when tea was very expensive, caddies were made of wood, porcelain or faience, with one or two compartments and had locks, to prevent unauthorised persons - in particular servants - from appropriating the tea.

In modern periods they tend to be decorative metal tins.
