The Finger Lakes Tea Company will attempt to grow tea in upstate New York. It was started by Lily and Mark Lin of Seneca Falls, New York, who came to the United States from Zhejiang, China. As of May, 2013, they have a small plot which includes year-old plants, and seeds have been put into the ground already, anticipating the first harvesting of tea leaves in 2014.

A tea garden is planned to be opened to the public in September 2013, even before the actual production of tea at the location.
